Summer Term

We have been working on our listening skills this month and used the listening lab to hear a story about a boy scout who made friends with an alien! Look at us with our headphones on. We then answered questions about the story to see how well we had listened.

We have our class assembly on the 3rd of June and we are busy preparing for this. We will be performing a short play and our rehearsals have been going well. The title of our assembly is Care in the Sun. We hope our advice will help everyone during the summer holidays to stay safe in the sunshine! (if we get any!)

We look forward to seeing you on the 3rd - hope you can make it.

Term 4

Hello everyone. We are reading the Roald Dahl novel The Twits this term and it is really funny. We have been making 'hairy faces' using photographs of ourselves and wool. We decided we could be the children of Mr and Mrs Twit! We also wrote about a practical joke that Mrs Twit could play on Mr Twit in language and we found out we have very good imaginations.

For our end of term reward last term we had a visit to the local sports centre and we had a chance to take part in circuit training. The best part was using the parachute to play games.Miss McAllister took some photographs of us...take a look.

In science this term we will be learning about the life cycle of plants and animals. We have already grown seeds in small pots in the classroom. They grew so fast because they were on the window sill, it was a big surprise when we came in to the class after the weekend to find they had grown so much. We will be learning how to make moveable frogs using paper fasteners in technology.

Term 3 - Open Evening

We have been very busy. We held our open evening this week and dressed up in Egyptian costumes to become tour guides for all the mums and dads. We all enjoyed showing off our work and telling our visitors what we have learned about ancient Egypt. Here are some photographs to take a look at.

These pictures show us at work, completing tasks for the open evening.

Everybody worked very hard to make the Egyptian open evening a great success.

As part of our health topic we have been learning about our environment and took part in a litter pick. We have also been learning about planting seeds and recently planted some seeds in the class. We were all very surprised to see that the seeds had started to grow over the weekend! We will soon be able to have the cress in a sandwich.

Term 3

Primary 3C are learning about Ancient Egypt in their class project this term and recently enjoyed a visit to the Paisley Museum, where they were able to dress up in Egyptian clothes and wigs. They also had the opportunity to look at genuine Egyptian artifacts, some of which they will try to make in the class using clay and other materials which would otherwise be thrown away.

The classroom is being decorated with all things Egyptian and our Nefertiti wall is particularly colourful. The children used their knowledge of repeating patterns to design and decorate the head gear worn by Queen Nefertiti.

The walls of our classroom are being decorated to look like the walls of a pyramid and all of the children have had the chance to contribute to this, using their knowledge of tiling to paint bricks and achieve the desired effect.

Another activity we recently enjoyed was making papyrus using tea bags and coffee to stain paper. The effects are very realistic and we are planning to use this for writing activities later in the project.

Primary 3C enjoy the expressive arts and in drama lessons the children have worked very well in groups to mime sequences relating to weather and storms. These photographs show some of the class performing to their classmates as different aspects of weather - rain, thunder, wind, storm clouds and lightning. As part of our Egyptian theme we are planning to learn an Egyptian sand dance.

Look out for our fact files on all things Egyptian at the open evening. These will be on display in our classroom and the children have been learning to use contents and index pages to search for interesting facts.

We have also been learning to make fruit salads as part of our health topic. The children enjoyed chopping fruits and eating their healthy snack in the class.

Excited about Christmas

Primary 3C have had a busy few weeks, preparing for the Christmas fayre. We made white doily angels to sell on the day and were pleased with the results.

Our enterprise topic is well underway and we conducted a survey throughout the school to find out what sort of badges the children would want to buy. We are now about to start making the badges to sell. Have a look at some of our samples in the picture.

We are also busy rehearsing for the Christmas concert at the moment, learning the words of our song and preparing our props.

New School - Term 2

We have settled into our new classroom and are enjoying having extra space which is good for drama and music lessons. We also have new cushions and floor mats in the shape of cars in our reading corner so it is more comfortable.

In art, we looked at famous portraits and then worked with a partner to create portraits of each other. We had fun trying to guess who the drawings were.

We also made halloween pumpkins using tissue paper to display at home.

We have started our science topic, forces and we carried out experiments to find out which objects would sink or float.

We have been enjoying drama this term becasue we have more space to move around in. In the pictures we are walking on pebbles on the beach, our facial expressions showing what it would feel like. We then became piles of sand which our partner had to mould into a shape.

We have been learning about fire work safety and used coloured chalk to create a fireworks display for our wall.
